Conference costs

The Foundation on German-American Academic Relations (SDAW) supports early-career researchers by funding active participation in international conferences and academic workshops addressing key issues of transatlantic relations and international security and European and US foreign policy. Applications may be submitted continuously with funding decision being taken in the spring (deadline 31 March) and fall (30 September).

Doctoral scholarships

The Foundation on German-American Academic Relations (SDAW) awards three three-year doctoral scholarships to support outstanding early-career researchers working on topics related to transatlantic relations, international security and politics, and foreign policy. Applications may be submitted continuously with funding decision being taken in the spring (deadline 31 March).

Post-Doc Fellowships

The Foundation on German-American Academic Relations (SDAW) offers two Helga Haftendorn Postdoctoral Fellowships for outstanding postdoctoral researchers. The one-year fellowships are hosted in the context of the "Democratic Vistas" Program at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften, Goethe University’s Center for Advanced Studies, and the John McCloy Forum in Bad Homburg. The fellowships support innovative on the history and present state of transatlantic relations, German or U.S. foreign and security policy, International relations with a focus on current global crises and security dynamics, transatlantic societies from historical and sociological perspectives, and theory of international relations, ideally involving transatlantic dimensions. The annual deadline for applications is 28 February.
